Young ju Cho.

Hello, my name is Young Ju Cho and I am from South Korea.

I am a graphic designer and currently pursuing a MFA program in graphic design and a certification program in HCI at Iowa State University.  I received my bachelor degree in the sculpture department at the Catholic University of Daegu, South Korea  and  joined the graduate program of Western Art at Keimyung University, South Korea in 1999. During my master's studies, I tried to combine sculpture with fine art and made experimental and abstract artwork consisting of color, lines and planes.

During studying in graphic design at ISU, I had a lot of opportunities to work with great people and expand my knowledge and skills as a graphic designer. I tried to find an effective way to communicate and solve problems through my design. I learned that design is a creative activity, but it is not always about the designer’s need for self-expression. In order to successfully convey the message, I believe that a designer should have an empathy with their users, and I have seen how good design can be created with that idea in mind.

When I’m not designing, I like to bike, listen to classical music and spend time with my family.
